insulin analogues

insulin analogues
a group of synthetic human insulins with specific alterations in their amino-acid sequences designed to modify their rate of absorption from the injection site (subcutaneous tissue). Some are absorbed much more rapidly and have a shorter duration of action than the older insulins; others are absorbed more slowly but at a constant rate, to prevent peaks in the plasma insulin levels associated with hypoglycaemia. These analogues include insulin aspart, insulin glargine, and insulin lispro.
